A Reminder

With all the things going on right now in the world, it’s hard for me to sit here and selfishly talk about myself. So, in the spirit of ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’, I would like to remind everyone, as much as possible, “DON’T PANIC”.

(I had actually written this little poem earlier this year, but never would I have expected it to be so fitting for 2016.)

#270216 a Poem by Y.L.M.

Ladies and gentlemen, if you’re ever in doubt:

Don’t scream and shout.

Try not to point fingers and plain mess about.

No she said and he said, no blaming the masses.

In no short time we’ll be stuck like molasses

So instead of pushing, pull together instead.

In this time of need, we must keep our heads.

Support each other. Help each other out. Respect one another. Now more than ever, we need to show solidarity. And this isn’t just for America. This is for the world.

Remember: United we stand. Divided we fall. So let’s pull together. And remember, love trumps hate. Always.

{Song of the Post: this stunning song, written by Sara Bareilles and sung by Leslie Odom Jr. called ‘Seriously‘, written for This American Life. The vocals and the words are absolutely piercing. And for something to soften the blow, ‘Everglow‘ by Coldplay, stripped down, and still as beautiful as the original (perhaps even more so).}
